Whatever is good and perfect is a gift coming down to us from God our Father, who created all the lights in the heavens. He never changes or casts a shifting shadow. He chose to give birth to us by giving us his true word. And we, out of all creation, became his prized possession. ~ James 1:17-18 NLT Photo by Bigstock

Christmas will be here in just a few days and, even in this one-of-a kind year, people are finding ways to shop for family and friends. And kids are still peeking in boxes beneath the tree to try to learn what might be in them.

Despite our unusual circumstances in 2020, we have been given many blessings. And we can be a blessing. Who knows but this may be the year that helps us all see the true light of Christmas as reflected by others. We can reflect that light too.

One look at the beautifully-decorated trees in store windows makes me smile at the wonder of God’s world. But there’s even more beauty in the stacks of boxes rising from beneath an Angel tree or spilling out of a Toys For Tots display. I can only imagine what might be in those boxes. Teddy bears. Olafs. Computers. Clothing. Ice skates…. Many are filled with things their recipients have been praying for all year.

I have a question for Jesus this Christmas. “Jesus, what would You like for Your birthday? What would You like me to give?”

I suspect that His answer might be simple. “I want you to give the gift of your presence, your grace and your mercy, just as I have given you.” Oh…. And I think He would want me to give a helping hand too. There are many who are in need of a hand-up this holiday season.

We can all offer that hands-up to others in one small way or another. What great joy that would bring to our Lord as we sing with the angels and praise His glorious name. Hallelujah! The Christ is born.

MAY ALL OF YOU HAVE A BLESSED CHRISTMAS.
