Psalm 136 has been described as a liturgy of praise to the Lord as Creator. Reading through it causes our hearts to soar in praise and love for our Lord—and fills us with a desire to sing our own song of thankfulness and praise. Here’s mine.

Give thanks to the Lord, for He is everything we need.

His love endures forever.

Give thanks to Jesus Christ for He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life.

His love endures forever.

Give thanks to the Holy Spirit for He opens our eyes to see.

His love endures forever.

Give thanks for the forgiveness of sin won by Jesus’ death on the cross,

His love endures forever.

for the promise of eternal life and the glorious day of His return,

His love endures forever.

for God’s Word that lights our path and delights our heart.

His love endures forever.

Give thanks for the protection and provision surrounding us in God’s grace,

His love endures forever.

for the beauty of new homes and new seasons of life.

His love endures forever.

Give thanks for peace in the midst of turmoil, joy in the midst of of adversity,

His love endures forever.

for discernment and shrewdness coupled with compassion and forgiveness.

His love endures forever.

Give thanks for friends who pray, love, and show up to help even before asked,

His love endures forever.

for the love of furry friends that warm a person’s heart,

His love endures forever.

for laughter that chases away the blues and spontaneity that sets us free.

His love endures forever.

Give thanks for abundant blessings too many to name,

His love endures forever.

and for always having just enough so that we can share with others.

His love endures forever.

To You, O Lord, we offer all glory, honor, praise, and thanksgiving.

His love endures forever.

And now I hope you will write your own song of thankfulness and praise as you celebrate the bounteous blessings of our Lord this Thanksgiving and always.

HAVE A BLESSED THANKSGIVING!
