“Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing!” ~
Isaiah 43:18-19 NIV

I don’t know about you but I, for one, am happy to say good-bye to 2017. There are many things that I want to forget and put behind me. That includes the speed with which this past year flew by. There were many days I felt like time was moving so fast I would fly right off this earth. Hmmm ….. that sounds rather Rapture-ish, doesn’t it!

He who was seated on the throne said, “I am making everything new!” ~ Revelation 21:5 NIV

Now that it’s 2018, I am quite ready for God to do new things. To remind me not to dwell on the past, but to look forward and see what He will do in my life in the coming new year.

It’s so easy to get side-tracked. To focus on a new diet, a new exercise routine, a new job, a new relationship, new goals, new resolutions, new tax deductions, new places to visit. None of which are bad. But they can sometimes get in the way of the new things that God wants to do in our lives: new Bible studies, new outreach in the community, new missions to support, new people to witness to, a renewed relationship with Him. New opportunities — FRESH (I like that word!) opportunities — to know Him better every day.

The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; His mercies never come to an end: they are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness. ~ Lamentations 3:22-23 ESV

We don’t know what 2018 holds for us. But we do know that God’s faithfulness brings a fresh start in all things because His love shines forth in His Son Jesus. Yes, indeed, the old has gone, the new has come.

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come! ~ 2 Corinthians 5:17 NIV

Thank You, Lord, for fresh starts! And to all of you …… “May 2018 be a Happy Fresh Year.”
